I have a feeling it was something to do with German countermeasures against "Window" - the dropping of aluminium foil strips to confuse their defence radars - but I can't remember what.

Not that either. You're correct to think of the air war but it's not "electronic warfare" related.

Got it. The Mistel - Mistel being German for mistletoe. Strictly speaking Mistel referred just to the larger, explosive part of the combination but the name was frequently used to describe the whole set up.

The runway is yours.
