I've been looking ahead at the sleeper plan, and the following run
via the East Coast (bracketed times are passing Finsbury Park) [i.e.
they reverse north of Camden LNW, then use the route between
Camden and the GN main line via the "new" North London incline].

Friday 14 April
1S25 2118 Euston - Inverness (Fin Park 2218)
1M16 2040 Inverness - Euston (0736)

Sunday 16 April
1S25 2000 Euston - Inverness (2103)
1S26 2206 Euston - Glasgow (2302)
1M16 2025 Inverness - Euston (0828 MO)

Mon & Tues 17 & 18 April
1S25 2042 Euston - Inverness (2146)
1S26 2159 Euston - Glasgow (2259)
1M16 2040 Inverness - Euston (0740 TWO)

There have beena couple of interesting workings lately which may
be of interest....

Sunday 6th Feb : 1C19 1019 Leeds - St Pancras was 34 late from
Sheffield waiting a conductor driver who was stuck in traffic by an
accident on the M1. As the train was booked to run via Manton, the
Leicester passengers were detrained at Loughborough and we ran
via the North to East curve at Syston.

Monday 7th Feb : 1S12 1030 Kings Cross - Aberdeen was diverted
via the Blyth & Tyne route due to a fatality between Newcastle and
Morpeth.

Sat 12th Feb : 2R58 0913 Adwick - Sheffield ran from Doncaster to
Bridge Jn (rev) and thence to Sheffield due to a track circuit failure
at South Yorkshire Jn. A TPX Manchester - Cleethorpes train was
planned to use the Doncaster avoiding line, but the track circuit was
by then back in order and it ran booked route (albeit a bit late).

w00t! Caledonian Insomniac via the ECML!

Any ideas why this is being done? I don't recall it happening on other WCML closures.

Anyone got better routing information? I can't think what route that is!

It has happened fairly frquently, aminly for closures on the southern WCML where there are no diversionary routes. I did it a couple of times in a week once, one of which went via Spalding because of engineering works on the ECML. Route will most likely be: Euston-Rimrose Hill/Willesden area (reverse)-Camden Road-Freight Terminal Jn-Finsbury Park-ECML-Waverly. here the Aberdeen/Fort Bill/Inverness will split as normal. Don't know about Glasgow, I have heard of a portion being left at Waverly before but it might just run through as a full train.

Interesting...I'll have to try and make it on one of those services! Perfect excuse to re-visit Edinburgh, Glasgow or Fort William there! But I'd want a berth next time, the last time I did the Seated Sleeper I vowed never to do it that way again!

I thought the ECML sleeper diversion reverses in the Wembley area and then use Kensal Rise Junction onto the NLL and then onwards to Camden
