Do West Coast Motors still operate this, spied in the background, looks like the service is getting new Plaxton Panoramas.

The 900 plaxton panthers are getting replaced with new deckers aswell.
Parks of Hamilton always seem to renew there vehicles on the 900 more often that stagecoach do, albeit stagecoach buying the panoramas for it is great stepp up, the service is busy and popularity is rising, I thought CityLink would set the terms of the specification and vehicles for the route to be franchised out.

It has been stated on north east bus forum stagecoach orders 2019/20 recently that new citylink panoramas are due January 2020 and that parks are also due some for their workings on 900 and that citylink air is also due some. Also plaxton stated that 29 I think were ordered this was earlier this year.

citylink tweeting west coast motors about the new buses

Citylink Ops director, Peter Knight, has posted a few internal shots on twitter now… they certainly look the part!

Based on the 'tagged' users on Twitter, it appears the interior design has come from Best Impressions, there is certainly some similarity to their other work, but, it looks like a very nice upgrade over the current stock…

What is happening to the existing irizars ?

Yeah , is there a reason that Parks need to do the 900 too .

All goes back to that competition commission back in 2006, with parks doing 900 it keep the dogs at the bay.

Are the managers of these companies really that stupid, can they not see the blindingly obvious and do they not pay any attention to the goings on in their industry?

Nat Ex tried double deck coaches on their London airport routes but quickly ditched them due to the small and badly located luggage lockers. There is nowhere near enough space on them for a full coach load of air travellers with cases and accessing the shoulder height lockers above the rear axles is difficult, dirty and backbreaking.

If any of the drivers from WCM is reading this I would strongly advise that you as a group make it clear that you are not going to take any part in loading or unloading luggage on these coaches from day one and make sure you are not put in the position of having to sort out the inevitable mess unaided.

My former employer tried similar vehicles on busy airport routes and it was an absolute disaster, took ages loading and unloading, passengers bitching and moaning (for good reason), drivers getting constant aggro if they refused to assist or putting their health at risk handling heavy luggage if they did. A regular occurrence was using some of the lower deck seating area as overflow luggage storage.

I've been informed there are luggage racks on the lower deck, so space shouldn't be an issue, the Panoramas have better storage than other vehicles in their class anyway.
