So the 5:41 FPK - MOG will be a 717 on Monday right?
That is the plan briefed to the staff, but until you see it... Personally I wouldn't put yourself out for that partcular journey. Play it safe and go for one later in the diagram once it is confirmed it is running. Even then when the 387s were introduced they sometimes got swapped mid-daigram (normally in when the daigram started with a 317)

This was the original plan for the December timetable change (Northbound)

Have bolded the ones that should convert next week. Wonder if this is how the daigrams step up?

The 5.41 FPK-MOG becomes that 6.07, so would make sense from that point of view.

No need to bet, it's a sure thing that any unit's left up there will be vandalised as the security isn't the best in the world and I'm referring to the fact that the fencing and lack of proper security lighting makes it a easy target.

Indeed a few years ago, a unit was stabled in the down siding one night for around half a hour before the next service terminated to couple to it and it had been vandalised so doesn't take long for the undesirables to target them.

I know one of the sidings in the yard there has been out of use for a long time now, no idea why so maybe you might know why?

Looking at Open Train Times and Traksy, it appears that Sidings 3 and 4 are both out of use today so that further impacts on stabling space there, anyway if memory serves me right if Hertford doesn't have any issues stabling rolling stock it should be able to cater for 8 Class 313s in the Up Yard and 2 Class 313s in the Down Siding so 10 units altogether but that leaves no room for any shunts or stabling during the day.

What about Hitchin? I know you've got the Up Yard there which has been used in the past to stable rolling stock, not too sure on which sidings there are electrified though or how many units it can take.

It's also a pity that the Up Yard at Welwyn Garden City wasn't upgraded to provide stabling as that could have meant expanding the facilities there with 12 car sidings on the Up Side which would have been helpful as I'm not sure if the Down Yard can take 12 cars or not?

They can't use Welwyn Garden City ? What about Letchworth ? I thought that had been upgraded. What's the issue ? Tripcocks ?

Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth are two places but are they not busy enough with the non Class 7XX fleets?

My point and feel free to correct me but there's only so much stabling space on the GN which is why some Class 717s are being stabled off route ie on the Midland Mainline and on the Southern.

Which is why I mentioned Hertford and the Up Yard at Welwyn GC which could have been used to provide 12 car stabling as a overfill from the likes of Letchworth CS, Hornsey TMD etc...

If you ever needed more proof, there's now a handwritten sign on a whiteboard at Gordon Hill saying two entering service from Monday and then a list of the services they will form.

Truth be told the only person doubting very credible sources is yourself.

What will the morning Gordon Hill - Moorgate services be? Might try to catch one.

UP:
2J20 07.11 Gordon Hill to Moorgate
2J30 07.28 Stevenage to Moorgate via Hertford - Departs at 08:00
2J38 08.41 Gordon Hill to Moorgate

The press train is scheduled to be 2B40 09.25 Moorgate to Hertford North.

Love everything about them, aside from the same seating configuration issues as the 700s. A vast improvement though. 20190325_055608.jpg

Yep it's at Gordon Hill now to form the 7:11 to Moorgate

Yeah 717006
I forgot how smooth they are compared to the old stock.

Two interesting things, at least to me
1: Bowes Park was an SDO (last doors did not open/locked) Not 100% sure why but i assume it has to do with the right side platform maybe?
2: At FP when closing the doors they didn't all close at once. Carriage 6 closed, then 4, then 5 then 3. Just interesting to witness.

Interesting, Bowes park wasn't SDO going northbkund for me on the 0607.

Rear doors didn't open at Harringay on the 18:21 service (which ran a minute late) but otherwise very smooth and civilised in what is usually an impossibly packed train.
