Do you have any particular context in mind, such as that you have to make a connection at Wakefield or that you have to arrive by a certain time, for example?

If by the last service north you mean the Kings X - Wakefield Kirkgate train at 1948 Mon-Fri, 1920 Sat, the bad news is that this train no longer calls for passengers at Wakefield Kirkgate. The 1923 Sunday train does, however, still call. See GC's West Riding timetable.

Open Train Times confirms that 1948 has an unadvertised stop there at 2201, and the 1920 at 2137½.

It has been suggested on this forum that the change has been made to allow the train to use a non-platformed line through the station when necessary.

Yep, Platform 3 is used by the 2200 Westgate to Knottingley service, GC's 1D95 passes at 2201 "round the back" (Up Goole Line) or through Platform 3...

On a train...somewhere!
*touches wood* Services seem to have been pretty reliable from my recollection of past weeks. A few issues due to external factors (fatalities and today's line damage for example). I've experienced disruption in the past and there is every effort to make that last train run for those who are stuck in London :)
