I do hope one unit is preserved. Having driven them since 1999 when I moved over from freight I have a soft spot for the old 313s
A Southern one is expected to be preserved isn't it? The one that’s currently in a sort of BR blue livery, 313201.I do hope one unit is preserved. Having driven them since 1999 when I moved over from freight I have a soft spot for the old 313s
There are three in Ferme Park sidings; they are 313033/47/60.Any departures to scrap lately?
Yesterday there were five pairs in traffic. For anyone seeking a last few trips today, 30 and 48 are working HE71 diagram, currently on 2K37 0824 Welwyn Garden City to Moorgate in lovely Hertfordshire morning sunshine with 52 and 59 following on 2K40 0838 from WGC, HE54 diagram...
Further into town, I have also observed that diagrams HE69, working 2G28 0825 Moorgate to Gordon Hill and HE62 returning empty to WGC 2K31 having Worked 0754 from WGC, are both pairs of 313s. 313134 was identifiable as one of those on HE62. There should be one further pair working HE51, 2K34 0808 from WGC, but I don’t get to see those as my pair on 2K37 pass them going empty back to Hornsey in tunnel.
This morning has 52 and 59 on 2K37 from Welwyn Garden City and they will be followed by 61 and 134 on 2K40 0838 ex WGC. 51 is on the rear of 2B30 0835 Moorgate to Hertford North, the ECS from 2K31 0754 WGC - Moorgate was also 313s, but couldn’t see which..
I managed a couple of fairly bad photos of pairs passing the very pleasant Waterford Marsh and the adjacent Waterford Heath Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust reserve yesterday. These lie either side of the Hertford Loop, about 2 miles north of Hertford North towards Watton At Stone. Good numbers of butterflies still in evidence and enjoyable walking between the trains in the late summer sun. Can anyone identify the pair I photographed working (I think) 2J69 1628 Stevenage to Moorgate?
I plan to spend the afternoon tomorrow trying to see as many as I can - where am I best to go?
Possibly Drayton Park? - no central fast lines there to block the view (if there’s disruption, then #432 better)I plan to spend the afternoon tomorrow trying to see as many as I can - where am I best to go?
Check out very helpful post #426. I had a few rides yesterday afternoon and the departure times from Moorgate are accurate. Different unit numbers, obviously!! Corresponding up workings can be worked out from Real Time Trains etc.Cheers guys. If I go I’ll update as to what I get to see
Does anyone know the Saturday diagrams on a e13, for the WGC route? Thanks

Last 3 pairs finish and replaced by 717 on Mon the 30th, wasn’t it?Sorry I have missed a few pages in this thread but can anyone confirm the last day of the Great Northern 313s?
I heard it was this week but I don't know how reliable the source is, so I took it with a pinch of salt.
