May I ask what the 313 diagrams are tomorrow please?
Last Saturday was from what I can gather a base WTT train plan. This Saturday is also, so on the premise that the same diagrams are in use then the following departures from Moorgate could be 313 tomorrow:

Set 1: 0728/0928/1128 etc
Set 2: 0813/1043/1313 etc
Set 3: 0843/1113/1343 etc
Set 4: 0858/1058/1258 etc

By using RTT you can hopefully work out the rest of the trains they’ll operate.....but remember this is based on last weekend, so it’s only a guide as to what might be tomorrow....

There should be 3 out, but 313052 & 059 Terminated at Finsbury Park as 2F01 & returned to Hornsey Depot after being on low power, the units were subbed by 717023, which has now filled into the carriage working.

I note the one going to Newport passes Challow. Is this the same Challow that Adrian Vaughan wrote about so loquaciously in his books?

Is this the last week for the 313s? September 30th should see all 717 operation apparently.

The 0753 WGC to MOG remains a 313

2K37 - the 0824 to Moorgate is also still 313s this morning, with consecutive 48 and 49 (diagrams HE041/042 or HE71) However the following 2K40 0838 Welwyn GC to Moorgate - solidly 313 until last Friday will be worked by a 717 (021 it looked like, but don’t rely on that ID, diagrams HE007/008 or HE054). The 0754 from WGC jellybaby posted earlier is part of diagrams HE023/024 or HE62.

So are the remaining 313 workings this week running between WGC and Moorgate, or is there anything left for workings to Watton-at-stone / Stevenage

Feel quite saddened to know that 030 filmed last week is today being dragged to that scrap yard in the sky :( - But glad to have recorded it in service for the record :)

The diagrams are mainly V shaped across both routes Mon-Fri

Apologies for the repeated question but is it known when last day of 313 operation is set to be?

I've heard Sunday 29th and Monday 30th September. I'm hoping to nip down to London for the last working whilst fitting it around work. MTIA.

Assuming only one pair of diagrams have gone over to 717s today - that is HE007, HE008, HE54, then the remaining four diagrams for pairs work the following services from Moorgate after 11:00. The diagram numbers are the two single units followed by the pair diagram (actually taken from a set of 717 diagrams). I haven't seen HE51 or HE69 diagrams, so cannot be sure that these remain 313s, but they were still all last week...

  • 1110 to Watton At Stone (HE023, HE024, HE62) today: seen as pair of 313s
  • 1140 to Watton At Stone (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 1200 to Welwyn Garden City (HE037, HE038, HE69)
  • 1350 to Welwyn Garden City (HE023, HE024, HE62) today: seen as pair of 313s
  • 1355 to Hertford North (HE037, HE038, HE69)
  • 1420 to Welwyn Garden City (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 1600 to Welwyn Garden City (HE037, HE038, HE69)
  • 1610 to Hertford North (HE023, HE024, HE62) today: seen as pair of 313s
  • 1640 to Hertford North (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 1709 to Gordon Hill (HE001, HE002, HE51)
  • 1750 to Watton At Stone (HE037, HE038, HE69)
  • 1810 to Hertford North (HE023, HE024, HE62) today: seen as pair of 313s
  • 1825 to Hertford North (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 1832 to Welwyn Garden City (HE001, HE002, HE51)
  • 2020 to Welwyn Garden City (HE037, HE038, HE69)
  • 2025 to Hertford North (HE001, HE002, HE51)
  • 2030 to Welwyn Garden City (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 2225 to Hertford North (HE041, HE042, HE71) today: 313049 + 313048
  • 2230 to Welwyn Garden City (HE001, HE002, HE51)
  • 2240 to Watton At Stone (HE037, HE038, HE69)
I hope this is useful and doesn't contain any errors!

HE001, HE002, HE51 also cover some interesting early morning trains: 2R99 04:12 King's Cross to Letchworth - this is an unadvertised, presumably staff train. Does anyone know whether passengers are allowed to travel if they turn up - as the stations served are open at that time? If so, there is still technically an opportunity to traverse the direct line across Digswell Viaduct with a pair of 313s, albeit in the dark. After that, the sets runs empty to work 2J12 06:06 Stevenage to Moorgate via Herford North.

One other working continues from Stevenage on weekdays, 2J07, 0532 Stevenage to Moorgate which should be part of HE69 above. However, this might be the most likely other diagram to have gone over to 717 today or tomorrow. That is because HE54 (which as noted above is a 717 today) ends at Letchworth Carriage Sidings and forms HE69 the next day...

The 04:12 is indeed a staff train and not available to the general public. The doors aren’t released at stations and staff are admitted through the single leaf cab door.

On the matter of HE69 going over to 717s, and as we have seen with 801s today, Monday diagrams may be different from those in the rest of the week because of weekend stabling locations. You can't run a service starting at Letchworth with a 717 unless you get one there the night before. That either involves a dead run or you introduce the diagram on Tuesday.

If they are finishing on Monday, you really want any working that day to end at Hornsey. If HE69 goes over to 717 tomorrow what are the start / finish locations for the remaining 3 weekday diagrams? 1 Hornsey, 1 Welwyn and 1 Hertford?
