Couldn't find the 800 thread but now down to the last handful of 800s with the original seat covers
This should be a welcome improvement to the passenger environment

800002 is in traffic today (21 August). It probably goes without saying that it has the nose end logos, etc. Like the other 800/0 range it is white with green overlay (as expected).

Does history relate as to whether 158763 is in works for its overhaul?

Also, on the IET front, ALL the IETs now have the nose end logos, 1st Class headlight, bike stickers etc. except for the following units:
800009
800013
800014
800016-018
800020
800028
800030
800309
800314
800315

Saw 158763 earlier today looking spick and span both inside and out, although the GWR nose logos are lower down on the door than on the rest of the fleet. Is today it’s first day in service since refurbishment?

I'm not really up to date with this but I might as well ask as this seems like the right thread, why don't the seats in the Class 800s and 802s have the green cloth headrest like on the other GWR trains?

Because the DfT specified the interiors (directly on the 800s, indirectly on the 802s with their “must be internally identical spec” caveat in authorising their purchase).

So the spec meant the new covers couldn't have the green headrest?

I assumed it was because the green is almost identical to the green grab handles, thus falling foul of the regulation that grab handles must contrast with the immediately adjacent surfaces.

Those Grab pieces could be any contrasting colour against the fabric - as they are on 150s/158s/HSTs. DfT specified a neutral scheme, and it took some hard negotiations to get it as GWR-esque as it is.

Don't see why GWR are so restricted - they changed the seating moquette in the IEPs to add the pattern (rather than plain grey), so should have further modified to add the green headrest. LNER's 800s/801s are also DfT specified, but feature a much brighter red interior which reflects the brand (albeit that of Virgin East Coast). Why do the GWR's IEPs require a neutral interior when LNER's do not?

I think GWR should have added green headrests to match the rest of the fleet, and use white grab pieces instead (as used in GWR's 150s), or even in dark green (as in the 387 interiors).

I also think the bright green bands above the windows inside the 800s/802s does not fit the GWR branding either, should be dark green as used in first class. First class could perhaps use grey to differentiate.
