Greater Anglia (Ipswich) Delays Expected

Due to a military helicopter coming into contact with power lines near Ipswich, UKPN domestic cables are down either side of the railway line. This means that the span over the railway may drop and make contact with the railway OLE at any point.

Its looking likely that the railway OLE will need to be isolated before work starts on the domestic lines and at least 3 hours work time has been suggested. Not yet clear when the works are to take place.

Apparently, 43 properties are still without power, so I am assuming these normally get power (to use the non-technical term) from the cables mentioned above. I guess these will be reconnected whilst the OHLE is isolated.

Its looking like the railway OLE will be isolated at c1600 as there is now a real chance of the domestic cables coming down onto the railway OLE. Gonna cause mayhem in the peak!

Of course, passengers will moan at Greater Anglia, rather than directing their ire at the Army...

Latest update is the start of work has been pushed back untill 0100 so commuters may now get away with it....unless it falls down between now and then!
