The Greeks are busy expanding the city's rail systems, with extensions to the new tram and metro systems (which feature some great station architecture), gauge conversion and also a brand new central station. I've just returned from a trip there, and here's a selection of pictures:

As a comparison, here's a selection of shots from 2004, when the rush was on to complete the new metro links and brand-new tramway for the Olympics:

Nice photos!

Why is Pellponese (sorry if it's not the correct spelling) no longer used?

Not having a go either, but you need a 'l' at the end of the link to your latest gallery there, otherwise the link doesn't work.

Nice to see how Greece is developing their network!

Oops!

- sorted now.

Peloponnese station was on the metre-gauge lines through Athens. These are now being converted to standard gauge which will allow the two networks and their two different stations (albeit very close to each other) to be amalgamated and expanded.

Rather surprisingly Wikepedia has a large entry on the Greek Metre gauge:

I'm going back in September to take a bigger look and explore more locations, so I'll keep people updated.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I've added some more Greek pix from 2001 and 2004 which should help put some of the changes in perspective:
