Did anyone do their MMI yesterday? Have you found out if you passed yet?
Hi James1996. I did mine on Tuesday with my MMI at around 12ish. I got an email around 11am the next day. But they did say it could take 7-10 days...

Hopfully you'll hear soon .

Amazing good luck mate!

Anyone that’s had their interview confirmed, could you let me know if you’ve been given any reading material or tips from GTR for prep of the interview. I’ve done the Hogan questionnaire but nothing else to do apart from that so far. Thanks

How did it go Baz?
I mean it went as well as the outcome I guess, but have done all I can.

Was interviewed to be based at the Three Bridges Depot not Brighton as the job advert said originally.

Good luck to everyone else who has their DMI coming up.

That’s a shame Baz86. Do you live closer to Three Bridges than Brighton?
All you can do is give it your best!

Hi Baz89,

Fingers crossed it went okay.. did they say when they will let you know?

I wonder why it's for TB? Do you live closer to TB than Brighton?

Best of luck!

Hi Hazwa89

Many thanks I really am pleased I have passed the stages and await my invite to attend the DMI. It would be great to start the training and also meet some of the fellow forumees when (fingers crossed) working as a driver.

I haven't as of yet but can now relax in the knowledge that a DMI will happen for me. Best of luck to everyone else who is currently going through the process and also attending a DMI very soon. Also best of luck Hazwa89

Das.

They just said that they hope to let me know sooner rather than later! Obviously sooner would be great lol

They just said that the recruiting was for TB and not Brighton.

Good day all,

I am currently in the recruitment process for a Train Driver role with Thameslink at the Brighton Depot and am just waiting for my DMI.

I was wondering if anyone could help answer the following questions:

1)Does anyone have a copy of the Driver rota showing start and end times? (I understand this may be a security issue, so no worries if it's not possible to share.)

2)How do Sundays work? Is there a good amount of overtime available, or are drivers assigned to Sunday shifts?

3)What's the work environment like at the Brighton Depot? Are there any known issues, or is it a good team to work with

4)During the training period, does the pay increase over the 12-18 months, or is there only a rise once you qualify? Also, is there any chance of overtime during training, or is that not an option?

5)Is overtime only available on rest days, or is it sometimes possible to pick up extra hours before or after your shift (as long as it doesn’t exceed 11 hours 59 minutes)?

6)How is the Class 700 to drive? Are there any aspects you particularly like or dislike?

7)Any advice on how to settle in if I’m lucky enough to be successful?

8)Lastly, does anyone know if there are plans to start another cohort this year, or is it more likely to happen in the new year?

Many thanks

Im not a Thameslink driver so can’t advise. But what I will tell you is forget about overtime until you’re qualified and even then put it off for at least 6 months. New drivers are the most likely to have incidents and especially more so when they’re doing overtime. Settle into it first. I’m sure I won’t be the only one you’ll hear this from

Hi Grvrdvicdr, thanks for taking the time to reply.

That's a good point regarding the overtime.

I was in two minds. One, I would like the opportunity to do overtime. Two. Didn't want to feel I would have to pick up overtime straight away as I would like to get settled in first.

Sounds like there would be no expectation for the first 6-12 months!

Thanks

The chance to do overtime will pretty much always be there so don't worry about that, sundays are outside the working week but you will have to commit to 12 a year anyway or get someone to do them if you don't want to do them specific ones.
Its a fixed roster, rest days are fixed so Wednesday and Thursday one week then Friday and Saturday the next and that is part of your long weekend so you'll also get Monday and Tuesday off the following week , always finish before long weekend on an early and always go back on lates or nights.
Swap from lates to earlies on the Wednesday Thursday rest days.
Work at Brighton is bedford and Cambridge depending on link.
Max day is 9h54.
700s are pretty decent now tbf, had their issues but most of them are reliable now.

In regards to overtime, there's plenty of it. The first 3 months I didn't do any rdw, just worked my Sundays then I slowly started to pick it up. Tbf, there's some grabbers who do 13 days in a row and incident free and those who don't do anything but have a number of incidents. Only you know if your able to cope with the fatigue and the additional shifts. I often do about 3 Sundays and pick up 4-6 extra shifts a month and touchwood I'll be fine.

Hey Class2ldn,

Thanks for replying.

Do you know roughly how many nights will be in the rota? I think I also read somewhere that some shifts can be as little as 5 hrs. Is there a short shift sometimes?

Thanks

Hey Twotwo.

Thanks the reply.

That makes sense.. is overtime always on a rest day or are there times when you might stay on for a few hours? Or come in a little earlier?

Thanks
