I would say that the Avro Lincoln is a good shout personally.

Now, your first thought would be Lancaster, but that would be too obivous, and also some might quibble about the post-1945 rule. Therefore, I'd say Avro Lincoln.

And the answer Avro Lincoln would be correct. I was trying to fool you, as Nym's clarificaton kind of made the Lancaster fair game (as they were in service with the French Navy post 1945), but there was another aircraft with a similar cockpit in service post-45 too the Avro Lancastrian (a transport version of the Lancaster).
here the full photo.

I'm Tempted to say C-130 but im not sure about the contra-roatating propellers.

I'm not aware of any C-130 variants have contra-props so that is unfortunatnly a no :(

TU-95 Bear?

A nice easy one for it is indeed the Tu-95! Perhaps the most famous plane to feature contra-rotating propellers (I can't think of a more famous type)?

Give this one a go.

I am hoping that the rules permit me to leave a clue but without a photograph.

Which aircraft, produced in North America, is a Fokker F27 in all but name?

Fairchild F-27 or the Fairchild Hiller FH-227.

great unanswerable question: Why did British Aerospace rename the 146 Avro RJ, when it had nothing to do with Avro at all.

All down to marketing. Which is also how Raytheon can build variants of our good old HS125 and call it a Hawker!!!

Over to you for another?

You can steal pictures off airliners.net or other sites like wikipedia btw...

Also, didn't know Raythelon made planes, might have applied for a job there if I'd have known that.

IIRC, they bought Beechcraft, the light aircraft/turboprop manufacturer, and also the rights to build and develop the BAe125; which is now solely produced in America.

Heres one to challenge you all, I've had to remove parts of the pilot as it would be too easy otherwise.
