Yes I saw 957 on the Devon Metro yesterday during my work experience at St David’s. Makes a nice change to all the 143s and 150s. Seems to be a lot of 158s working down Devon & Cornwall way now. I’m also excited for them to take over the Barnstaple services in December!
I’m going to miss the unique journey experience that only a Pacer can offer on the Barnstaple line  But a 158 is far superior in terms of ride quality and passenger comfort.

Yes I will also miss the bounciness of the Pacer on the Tarka Line but the 158s will definitely offer a much smoother ride and more comfort.

Seems to be back to 2 150s today (150248/234) however it seems as if there is a 158/9 running 2U12 this morning which will return on 2C77 to St Davids later to then form 2P93 to Plymouth :)

Yes I believe 158957 and 956 were covering the double 150 diagram during Tuesday and yesterday. Always good to see 158s though.

I'm going to Dawlish for our annual hols in August and will be great to see some 158s!! I can't remember seeing any last year, the class 143's need to be removed from service particularly the longer distance Barnstaple line (Exmouth to Barnstaple like hour and a half very bouncy lively ride!) Cardiff to Paignton is also a long way for a 150 (if that morning service still runs as one). In early post-privatisations days and certainly before 2010 most services past Exeter were either Class 150/153 or 158 with few pacers and certainly no 150s on long distance services.

The Cardiff to Paignton is now a 158.

Yep, must have been down by a couple of 150s the last couple of days.

Plus 158957 was on the diagram that ran from SJP > CDF > EXD > PLY > EXD today but no sign of 956 so I assume it was either in Exeter TMD or was sent back to Bristol today...

First day yesterday had 158956, 158957 & 150261. Today has 2x 158/9s and 150002

Any idea which diagram 150002 is on? I've heard that 158956 was running one of the peak trains this morning, having looked through RTT it looks like anyone getting the 0721 from Barny is on 158's but the 1711 back from SJP is a different diagram so wondering if I'm likely to have to put up with 150002 (which I find the less reliable of the two 150/0 previously used) on my commute home...

I caught a 158 from Weston-upon-Mud to Plymouth back around 96/97 - think we drove up from Plymouth but came back at different times hence some of us took the train. I remember thinking how nice it was over the "other Sprinters" (as I didn't know my types of train at the time!)

15:11 - 158956,
16:09 - 150002,
17:11 - 158957.

Hope that helps :)

Looking at RTT, if everything goes to plan then it looks as if 150002 will be stabled on P2 at EXD tonight and will be on the first one out to Barnstaple tomz morning, meaning it would be on the 17:11 tomz evening.

They must be a 158 down or something.

Also from when I was watching a live cam from Dawlish on YouTube, it looked like there was a 158/9 on a Exmouth to Paignton service today departing from there at 15:12.

Yes, I believe that was 158959.

Personally I think that 150002 and 158959 should have been swapped round due to the fact that the Barnstaple services are now booked for 158s but I guess that they must have their reasons for putting 150002 on instead today...

For all you know, they could have been a 143/150 down but I agree that they should have put 150002 on that particular Exmouth to Paignton working instead of 158959.

Depends where they finish the previous day and not always convenient. The 150/0s were for ever covering 158/9s on Cardiff to Portsmouth runs

Hopefully one day soon, it will be normal with all 3 of the Barnstaple diagrams being allocated with 158/9s

150002 would have come down ECS from the Marsh as part of a lash up so there is the answer. Is there any point in making a fuss of 1 Class working vice another which is an every day event all over the country. It was 3 Car vice 3 Car so no problem

I do understand your view and I respect that but still, 002 isn't a 158 which is what that diagram is booked for...

That is not a view, it's a fact. So if there is no 158 available do we cancel the train. The diagrammed class is not available all day long all over the country so why single out a Barny service. As for changing with the 158/9 on the Exmouth to Paigntons why cause delays or turf passengers out for no reason.
