Aside, worries have been mentioned that this could be DOO through the back door.....

Not sure how?

The same agreements that prevent IETs running DOO over the route west of Didcot are successfully preventing 387s being operated DOO. If those agreements are at any point torn up then whether IETs or 387s are used won’t make a difference, DOO will be possible.

Are all Paddington to Bristol Parkway shuttles using 387s? Or are 800s/802s used as they become available.

Only ones that are run as Class 9 headcodes will be 387s - at present it’s just 1x 8 car running around

Sorry! - I looked at the 26th. Realtime Trains - 9L53 1510 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington But for the ESR at Ruscombe your run could well have achieved a 100 mph average - good for 110 mph stock.
A Clean run from Reading to Paddington was just over 24 mins - so a 90mph average. It's challenging enough to get a 100mph average with 125mph stock - never mind 110mph trains. I suspect you'd have trouble achieving a clean 100mph average even if the 387's ran nonstop from Bristol to Paddington

For anyone curious, 387152+387170 are on the diagram today, currently typing this as I wait to depart on the 1510 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington :)

UPDATE: 1712 Paddington to Bristol Parkway was 387145+387169, absolutely flew up the line and much better than the slow path on the 1510.

Are 387s still being used on services to Bristol Parkway (or Cardiff) during the Bristol area closures?

If so, which diagrams are these? On RTT, the 1212 departure from Paddington is indicated as being an EMU, but this service is not shown on journey planners.

Are there any 387 diagrams to Bristol Parkway on Sundays?
No, weekdays only

GWR were running some Paddington to Swindon services using Class 387s on Sunday 1st August.

Are 387s still being used on services to Bristol Parkway (or Cardiff) during the Bristol area closures?

If so, which diagrams are these? On RTT, the 1212 departure from Paddington is indicated as being an EMU, but this service is not shown on journey planners.

M-F services booked to be 387s are:

9U44 0712 London Paddington to Bristol Parkway
9L43 1019 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington
9U54 1212 London Paddington to Bristol Parkway
9L53 1510 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington
9U66 1712 London Paddington to Bristol Parkway

They are but only that one diagram (that includes the 0712, 1212 & 1712 departures from Paddington) is running at the moment as the other 387 Bristol Parkway services have been temporarily cancelled due to crew shortages ('pingdemic')

Are these covered by any Gatwick 387s, or do they mostly work the Didcot services?

In theory, it shouldn’t be the red ones as on paper they have their own diagrams - however as @Melancholia says in practice they’re common use with the green fleet and by example of the last 2 days 387203 has been on Bristol Parkway duties both days.
