If it was to go for scrap, I'm surprised no pres line has looked at getting it.
Wasn’t there a plan for GWR to standardise on either the 90V or 110V electrical variant of 08 - I can’t remember which, though?
I remember couple of years ago they stood together at Laira when 410 had a brief secondment in plymouth.
Is there a tread for discussion on the long rock open day please, can’t find it
Not much of one
Looks like 410 will be leaving us sometime after April. It's voltage is non standard compared to the other 08s in the fleet. Start saving someone....... !
08645 has been publicaly confirmed for the open day.
Unconfirmed but should be a refurb buffet and a D coach easy access sleeper to view.
Sleeper stock now confirmed publicly !!
Two Long rock machines in the spring sunshine today. 5A40 at Reading 57605 & 603 rear.
1C99 last night terminated Par 46 L following activation of Hot Box Detector and shunted to Chapel Sdg. A 57 is scheduled to run down from Reading to Par this afternoon
GWR Journey Check states 1A40 will start from Plymouth tonight and will be held for
approx quarter of an hour for Cornish passengers who will travel up on a XC service to connect.
I am not aware which vehicle was affected but with another loco on the way it could have been the loco (57604) which looks destined to take the stock back to Plymouth/Laira
57603 was sent out on 0Z79
Now the open day internet embargo has passed, here's one I tool earlier, 08645 new depot pet. Just had its St Piran name added yesterday.
Looks very interesting with the Cornish flag on the body side.
Any chance of the 50s working tonight’s sleeper back to Paddington lol
That old chestnut of a steam loco being used for a round trip resurfaced the other week - on depot too !!!!
Didn't put that on here; you know what will happen....
I was impressed with the day yesterday, well worth the long trip down. Good show all round, well organised I thought.
We now have back from refurbishment buffet10225. This is the final coach to be done, completing the fleet.
Yes I saw it on Saturday at Reading depot.
Presumably 10229 will go back to TPE once it is proven in service.
I doubt that, as the TPE sets should be in the process of being disbanded sooner or later. I reckon it'll probably end up in storage either in Crewe Yard or direct to Long Marston.
Speaking of the RFMs, does anyone happen to know what has happened to 10232 of late. I note that it moved to Long Marston, but seems to have disappeared from there.
10229 is supposed to be with us until December when it then goes off lease last I heard. Once 225 is prepped however will will be up to 3 buffets so may go beforehand ??? Hope 232 gets saved !
New shunter "St Piran" has not moved out of shed since open day, new batteries and new cylinder heads amongst other things !
10232 was an utter basket case - it has gone to Booth’s for scrap.
I knew it had a sieve as a floor but its seated area was one of the better ones if anyone wants some spares for their preserved mk3.
Will the barrier vehicle come back to Long Rock and also when should 08410 be leaving Long Rock?
I’m not really sure what spares anyone would want off it?
Unsure to both. 6348 is being used transporting off lease HST stock around. 410 is in use until St P. is ready. A good candidate for saving.... .
Any class 57 hauled summer Saturday services this year please?
No. HSTGT/158/150 .
Not sure of the reason however tonight’s 2145 Penzance -Paddington sleeper is formed of IET set 802110.
First occasion this has happened?
57603 failed at Long Rock tonight and IET (9 Car) working 1A40 so seating accommodation only
