There's absolutely no confirmation of any at the moment, or even an indication of how many there might be, other than it is likely to be a low number. It's only gone as far as DfT asking GWR for proposals (per Modern Railways).
Oh right, someone said it was 3 additional sets.

The MR article is out of date. It's moved on from an enquiry and DfT authorization is awaited.

It is likely to be a three month delivery programme, with a set a month.

Is it expected that the powercars remaining in GWR depots will be used as additional ones if the sets come to fruition (things like 009, 010, 029 etc)?

They already have some additional power cars, they are 43088, 156, 160 and 162 which are all at Wabtec at present.

Yes they are recieving the mods and a repaint at Doncaster. I think the OP was referring to the other power cars that are still in Laira, Long Rock(?) and St Phillips Marsh. I think they are 009, 010 at SPM, 022, 029, 053, 063, 091 (swapped for 086), 161, 171, 172, 180 at LA I think. Although from the photos I've seen it doesn't look like 180 will run again.

43180 of course, Although I know what you're referring to.

I'm actually surprised this one hasn't been sold Ala 43195 to become a Laira Christmas Tree, after it's fatal collision at Stoke Cannon. It does seem a little odd to request it to be re-constructed with little to no future ahead of it.

Richard Clinnick reports that 43009 and 43010 are taking some Mk3s to Doncaster for mods today. I presume what's left of LA72 at SPM: 42005, 42015, 42016, 44005 and 42554.

It seems that it didn’t happen, path was in for 5E50 SPM - Doncaster but train didn’t run.

42554 not going, as I understand it.

The first of the 3, as expected. I rather suspect the remains of the short set at Long Rock will be bought up shortly before being reunited with a pair of PCs at Laira for their trip to Doncaster.

Power cars will have to have traction/brake interlock fitted to be used on a sliding door set. Coat of green, too.

Indeed, I just thought they could be used purely to transport the coaches to Doncaster and used with other PCs in service. I know there's four more due: 43088, 43156, 43160, 43162. This would give 28 PCs for 14(?) sets. (So yes probably need more PCs then.)

Can anyone post the base summer timetable diagrams for the Castle HST sets (including Sundays)?
I realise that engineering works (and indeed Covid) will impact, but it would be interesting to see the base summer diagrams.

Check the HST enthusiast group on facebook, they have a gen thread which is updated every morning with the days allocations

So this means we have 43009, 010, 088, 156, 160, 162 at Doncaster & 43022, 027, 029, 063, 091, 161, 171, 172 at Laira (plus 43180 & 43195 both damaged). If I was to guess I'd say there might be four more power cars to recieve mods.

Normally they are posted on this Forum in the "Frequently Requested Diagrams" thread but there has been no input for the Summer because they would be meaningless due to COVID. The ones you would see in the Groups are all STP.

Ah Philipe I think I’m here long enough to know that to be fair!! ;)

I was just looking at the base summer timetable (take any week in July) and trying to figure out the planned diagrams of HST and DMU sets in Cornwall and Devon.

To be fair the number of STP workings in that neck of the woods is far less than elsewhere.

It’s the summer weekend extras in the main that have been canned.

Not to worry I’ll try and figure it out using RTT.

As expected, the next slam door set is on it's way to Doncaster today (GW13) with this in tow. 1 down, 2 to go!

43009 / 42005 / 42015 / 42016 / 44005 / 43010.

I was in the right place, at the right time, to see them when they were just about to go through Mexborough. I sometimes take a picture when an interesting train passes, but the undergrowth is getting too dense.

What is the coach formation on these? First-Standard-Standard-Standard presumably, but are they using the half buffet/shop cars?

All four standard, no buffet. TS, TS, TS, TGS.

TS: Trailer Standard
TGS: Trailer Guard Standard
