Some problems this morning. 2U06 0737 Weston-super-Mare to Cardiff Cen being worked by 800001 vice Castle and attributed as due to traincrew and unable call at Parson St. (Some root cause somewhere) and 2C43 0624 Bristol Parkway to Penzance being worked as far as Plymouth by 158766

GWR Twitter says having to source a driver but the substitute was not trained on the equipment to stop at short platforms such as Parson St

Looks like the whole diagram stays as 800 010 all day. "Due to shortage of drivers with required traction knowledge, following amendments; 2Y04 0648 Bristol TM to Weston SM; not to call Bedminster and Parson Street. 2U06 0737 Weston SM to Cardiff Ctl; not to call Parson Street and Bedminster. 2C81 1500 Cardiff Ctl to Taunton; not to call Bedminster and Parson Street. 2U26 1706 Taunton to Cardiff Ctl; not to call Parson Street and Bedminster, Lawrence Hill or Stapleton Road. 2C91 2000 Cardiff Ctl to Taunton; not to call Bedminster and Parson Street."

GW01 took over 2C43 at Plymouth.

The driver they had did not sign the Castle class so they used an 800 instead. 800 have not been cleared to stop at Parsons Street and Bedminster yet.

I'm assuming they haven't been cleared for Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road either. I know the 80x they have SDO but these two stations seem to have quite long platforms.

I know for the driver shortage but do they not have enough turbo's to cover?

If you knew the Bristol area at all, you’d appreciate there are never enough Turbos / Sprinters to go around. The current culprit is the 3x units held back in the Thames Valley covering Bedwyn diagrams because of the DOO self-dispatch camera issues with IET stock.

Indeed. I'm also a bit concerned about capacity around the Bristol area. Some peak time 2x150 services have been replaced with a 166 and are full and standing every day as before, also some peak time services are formed of 1 x 165 (2 car) and are overwhelmed. I know they are very much still in the process of cascading stock but so far, it doesn't seem to have been the improvement the commuters in the Bristol/Bath areas have been hoping for.

Great, thanks for sharing! I'm guessing this is the aim from 2020 seeing as Pacers still operate on the Devon Metro, Sprinters in the Bristol area, and the Cornish main line and the odd HST set still works out of Paddington. Also no 158s to Barnstaple yet.

So, how would this work with a 800? If it was a 802 I would think it would be easy but the DfT 800s?

In the context of a class 800 not being allowed to stop at Parsons St, I don't really understand your question.
Sorry, in terms of payment. Can gWr just use one of the Agility 800s for whatever they need? I thought they were very strict on what their units could do and where they needed to be.

The agreement is here
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...great-western-iep-network-train-agreement.pdf

Hasn't it been suggested that they need to return to Hitachi depots or one of a handful of agreed stabling points at night but it is up to GWR how to use them once they are handed over within the parameters of the agreement. Easy enough to send a 802 out on a 800 diagram and use the 800 for something else.

42093 renumbered 48111 3/18, swapped for 48101 3/19
42168 renumbered 48101 3/18, swapped for 48103 3/19
42177 renumbered 48102 3/18, swapped for 48113 3/19

42102 was renumbered 48131 in 10/18, it was intended to use 48104. The number 48115 may be used so an Angel Trains vehicle can get the number 48131, and 42365 was renumbered 48104. The number 48102 may be used with 42218.

Can someone confirm whether or not the GWR service that arrives at Exeter St Davids at 09:16 (after arriving from Penzance) then forms the 09:26 from Exeter St Davids to Penzance and is a HST GTi set?
I think it is but am not 100% sure, thanks.

It does and is booked a 2+4 HST set having previously been a 2 car Class 150.

The diagrams can be found in the Frequently Requested Diagrams thread (Click on GWR) which could be useful to you should you have any more queries and should you like to browse them at any time

Anyone else noticed the ridiculously high volume on the numerous long winded announcements? Or is it just this one set I am on??
