GW07 has been on test recently, and is formed thus:
  • 48121 (ex-42027)
  • 48120 (ex-42201)
  • 48119 (ex-42204)
  • 49107 (ex-44064)
Additionally, 43092 has now had its Castle nameplate applied; "Cromwell's Castle" is the plate in question.

Are you sure about this as it was booked a 158 from St James to St. David's and then booked GW02 Exeter St. David's to Cardiff.

That is great, no report of this GW07 been released from Doncaster yet so is it awaiting to leave Doncaster or has it already come down to Laira? GW06 came down back in August so is due now. Thanks

Hi

Does anyone know if GWR is planning to use its 4 additional GWR owned HST power cars (43088/156/160 and 162) for two additional 4 car sets and if so are they to be painted GWR green?

Does anyone know the previous identities of set GW02?

Apparently they are to be used as spares and eventual scrap.

They have just come through Derby on route from Doncaster to Laira with the latest outshopped "Castle" set.
5V84 1131 Doncaster - Laira.
GW08:- 43040, 48124, 48129, 48122, 49108, 48126 and 43198.

A 2+5, not sure why.

There were two Trailer Guards Standard (TGS) vehicles in the formation. I guess one of those didn't make it in a previous move or is perhaps a spare?
There was a 2+3 GTI running round a couple of months back, could be to make that set back up

I can't comment on the list but I saw this today with my own eyes and I could have sworn there were two TGS vehicles in the formation - they were the rear two vehicles.

The formation I listed is the one shown on the consist in TRUST / TOPS.

As I haven't seen the train I cannot say what vehicles were or were not on the movement.

DONT USE THE 'S' WORD!

Is the reliability on par with when they were on the mainline?
Anecdotally speaking they seem pretty good. I have driven about 10 2+4sets with no issues at all other than one with a slightly dodgy wiper. Laira seem to be doing a pretty good job, probably helps that old oak etc are now out of the picture haha.

I bet GWR drivers much prefer driving a 2+4 HST with no potentially noisy passengers behind you compared to a Turbo or 15x.

I'm not saying that the DMU's are bad trains but 4-coach HST's are an improvement for staff and passengers I think :)!

It has been posted elsewhere as only having 1 TGS and 4 TS vehicles

Fair enough - it was going quite fast (through Bristol parkway when I saw it) so my eyes must have been playing tricks on me. :)

As an HSS (high speed driver) I am used to not having to put up with passenger noise. However on IETS , we have to put up with noise that the crew make as the crew seats are just behind the cab wall.

Amen to that. Absolute godsend on Cardiff-Bristol.

It's great to have set 8 so only 3 more to go now, I'd imagine the extra vehicle is a spare? Also anyone know the previous numbers to the coaches above? Thanks

I like to think we are one big happy family, wouldn't want to upset anyone or create an us and them thing between drivers and catering.
Too be fair they tend to stay quiet about my driving haha

Open the throttle up and leave them on the floor and see if there is still harmony!

Seriously it's good that there is no them and us, in any work place.
