Do the Weymouth diagrams definitely begin on the 29th Jan? On the 1st page it states that they start on the 12th Feb.

Yes but there you state that the Turbo operation commences on the 29th Jan, when on this thread on the 1st page (post 1) the date stated is the 12th Feb?

I am beginning to repeat myself here but the start date is the 29th. I have already explained the issue with LTP date sets on more than one thread.

As it happens there has been a delay to the door control fitment after the third unit, due to shortage of materials at the manufacturers end. So the diagrams on the 29th January have had to be altered and some elements of the 12th are now due to come in on the 6th February, with revisions. That revised plan is being compiled and validated now. The door control programme recommences in the second week of February so hopefully there will be a partial reversion to the original plan as the month goes on as more units get fitted with door controls.

Does that mean on some through services, a Turbo coming in from Malvern/Gloucester at Temple Meads to connect with a 150 onwards to Westbury/Weymouth, as has been done with some Cardiff-Taunton workings?

The details are still being worked on.

Turbo's operating hourly shuttles between Bristol Temple Meads and Chippenham today. One diagram is a double 166 with the other diagram being a single.

On the Golden Valley Line, currently one diagram is operated by a Turbo and another is operated by an SWR 158 (on long term hire-in to GWR). The diagram covered by the hire-in 158 is due to run as a Turbo from next week, so both unit diagrams on the GVL will be covered by Turbos. The hire-in 158 will remain with GWR, just not on this particular diagram.

2M03 0704 Westbury - Cheltenham Spa via Swindon
2B90 0918 Cheltenham Spa - Swindon
2G83 1136 Swindon - Cheltenham Spa
2B94 1320 Cheltenham Spa - Swindon
2G87 1536 Swindon - Cheltenham Spa
2O00 1741 Cheltenham Spa - Southampton Central via Swindon
2V96 2120 Southampton Central - Westbury

If I might be slightly pedantic, the 1741 Cheltenham Spa-Southampton will be split into two services at Westbury. This is due to Dilton Marsh requiring a local-door-control fitted Turbo whereas Stonehouse and Melksham can be done using butterfly controls. Irony is that pax will change from one seemingly identical Turbo to another, and are unlikely to appreciate the subtlety!
(I don’t really understand why Dilton can’t use a butterfly either but I’m sure there’s a logical reason.)

The "fresh" train from Westbury runs as 9O01

I did notice 9O01 but I should think that working won't be used if there's a Turbo on 2O01 with the door modifications (there's around 3 Turbos with this feature I believe).

The Turbos are not permitted to use Southampton Central platform 2 or Salisbury platform 5 (the latter a non passenger train platform) so will likely have to have a class 9 headcode regardless to identify the fact to the signallers. The same applies to Cardiff services which run as a class 9 as Turbos are not permitted to use Newport platform 1, as well as when 153 units worked through Salisbury (not permitted to use platform 3 there).

It would appear that next week under STP arrangements next week 2M02 0517 Gloucester to Southampton will be changing trains at Westbury. a fresh train going forward as 9M02.

I've noticed the 9 headcode services into Southampton and have updated the thread accordingly.

Thread updated with the diagram:
9M02 0701 Westbury - Southampton Central
2M97 0823 Southampton Central - Great Malvern
2O90 1251 Great Malvern - Weymouth
2V93 1730 Weymouth - Bristol Temple Meads

Do you know what the Turbo on this diagram works before forming 9O00 1940 Westbury - Southampton Central?

I think GWR are a Turbo short at the moment. Yesterday the 1754 Swindon-Cheltenham had regressed back to a green 150/2, to the consternation of regular pax who presumably were starting to get used to having a seat!

One of the Weston to Parkway shuttles today was a 15x and the 1100 Cardiff to Taunton was 158766

One wonders if they have taken extra Turbos out of service to accelerate the modification programme?

I think the Class 9 Headcodes on the 2 x services to Southampton are there as a pointer to indicate the change of trains rather than being in connection with any Turbo restrictions, borne out by the fact that the return services from Southampton are unaltered. Any confirmation of this would be welcomed. Perhaps SWR hire works the diagram here.

The SWR hire in did work the 9M02 07:01 Westbury to Southampton Central today. The 9O00 19:40 Westbury to Southampton Central is showing 166210 allocated.

166212 was working the Melksham shuttle diagram today. This is now lined up for Turbo operation for a few weeks apparently. Amazing given only a few weeks ago it was a 153!

I am glad to hear this, when they put 158s on it was awful getting all the passengers out that one set of thin doors in a regional designed carriage. Quite surprised they've already upgraded to three carriages though!
