IETs can run DOO to Newbury, as they are dispatched by Platform Staff there.

Are there enough Reading guards/TMs that sign the route to Newbury/Bedwyn?

Unsure about Reading depot but at PAD it’s not uncommon to have an early Newbury stopper with a guard when HSS cover for LTV- quite fun! Nonetheless, the turbos will power on!

Presumably 0609 Newbury - Paddington isn't DOO as that train has been an IET for a couple of months or so

There is engineering work in the Portsmouth area this Sunday 9th December. Can anyone confirm if it is in connection with the Turbo clearance to Portsmouth Harbour?

The question has been asked more than once already in the thread together with some discussion but a definitive answer doesn' t appear to have appeared

The main thing (still) is that the closure area on the 9th is far greater than needed to do the gauge clearance work at the Harbour. It’s more a case of just doing the work as a small add on during an already planned routine closure, for all the usual reasons, such as structures, S&C, third rail work, track renewal etc etc.

This is the week (NR week 37?) that was mentioned some months ago, that’s all we can really say.

I had 165114 to work today, and Interestingly I noticed that it has finally, after some persistent nagging from no doubt myself and others finally had the first class area tatted up at last. Newly painted walls, new FGW Moquette and new FGW first class carpet. They have even fitted new cushions and fixed the overhead lights at last. I’m impressed GWR, at last, well done.

166203 on short term emergency loan to the west to cover for 166205 involved in a fatality yesterday. 166205 is on RTCD for post-incident work; moved as 5R71 1440 Bristol - Reading yesterday.

Will only be west for a few days until 205 is sorted.
205 is the one that received the GWR interior isn't it?

Interesting, and, as you say, at last! I have been asking GWR for months what they are doing about the North Downs line stock. The GWR corporate first class markings are dire anyway, and could so easily be good if a proper yellow stripe was applied (as with the final FGW style) instead of the pencil silver line, plus window stickers, etc. The seats have various cables hanging loose (presumably the seat lighting) and the whole environment is poor.

166205 heading back west as 5F99 16+15 RTCD to Bristol TM.

166203 heading back east as 5Z71 19+09 Bristol TM to RTCD.

I understand from my West colleagues that 205 is being pressed into traffic “immediately” on arrival at Bristol.

The first class area on 165103 also seems to have been given a clean up, looks like new seat covers. Still a shame GWR removed the little part tables so folk can rest a coffee cup on

I believe there starting with only 2 diagrams atm with being the 07:30 and 09:30 diagrams from Cardiff if this helps and then follow them on RTT for rest of the day.

I would make that the following departures from Portsmouth

1F16 11:23 PMH - CDF
1F20 13:23 PMH - CDF
1F34 19:23 PMH - CDF
2M95 21:23 PMH - WSB

There is now a delay in transferring Turbos from East to West due to the Bedwyn IET issue and the late delivery of HSTG1 Sets

None at present. If the Bedwyns has gone IET there’d have been a few released; but as-is even the Newburys still need 2 Turbos at times due to the way diagrams inter work.
