What do people think of this? I think such hard-hitting campaigns are impactive and that is a good thing. I don’t really get the criticisms.

The Dutch rail infrastructure operator has defended its controversial "fashion line" featuring replicas of torn clothing worn by those killed and injured in railway accidents.

ProRail launched "Victim Fashion" to encourage young people to be safer around railway lines.

The campaign has faced backlash, with the Dutch infrastructure secretary saying it went too far.

But ProRail told the BBC it was "necessary" amid rising fatalities.

It says the number of people killed on and around railways has almost tripled since 2016, with 17 fatalities recorded last year.

Good on ProRail for defending it and explaining why they came up with it. It is all too predictable these days for people / organisations to make pathetic, grovelling apologies if they get more than 2 negative comments on social media.

As for the campaign, I agree it's quite tame. Didn't Network Rail put a video out recently showing somebody on the track getting cut in 2 between train and platform edge?

Compared to some of the campaigns put out by Network Rail I'd say this is pretty tame.

I remember a couple of NR video's showing the aftermath of electrocution, which were definitely not pleasant to look at.

To reach the youth sometimes you have to be hard. But do it where it does not clash with the adult population if that is possible.

Good, I'm all for more hard hitting stuff like this.

NR put out a video recently where they visibly electrocuted a kid playing near overheads. It's the sort of thing that needs to be done.

And the campaign has been stopped. Prorail says it was successful. Next time Prorail says it will first talk with NS how the campaign will be.
