I've only just got round to uploading an album of photos from a visit to the Harz at the beginning of September.
Things were a little different to previous visits as the HSB were having serious difficulty with loco and steam crew availability leading to diesel substitutions and cancellations. From Wernigerode they were using just two steam locos each day for Brocken trains. Hopefully this was just a bad patch, not the shape of things to come.
Something else that has changed are the views.
The Harz has had a serious Bark Beetle infestation apparently and large areas of trees are dead or dying. To try to halt the infestation there has been a lot of tree felling which has opened up some new views.
Even the trees on the platforms at Wernigerode have gone.
The album, my first on Flickr is at https://www.flickr.com/photos/184988246@N02/albums/72157711416873822
