..successfully negotiated a free upgrade on Eurostar? I used to be the beneficiary of free first class upgrades a few years back and spent many a weekend in Europe with 'er indoors in 5* Hotels in places various. First Class is the nuts and free wine :-P , plus the food was always excellent.
However, on my regular jaunts to Spain, I travel with the ordinary people, but everytime I get to Waterloo, I ask if there are any free upgrades. The train staff always tend to look at me as if I am asking to drive the thing!
