in the todays railways rover ticket guide 2012 ,this ticket is shown as oxford to worcester ,gloucester to birmingham via worcester.
but in the london midland rover guide and map it is allowed direct between gloucester/cheltenham and birmingham and also oxford to birmingham direct via banbury .which is correct please.

From what I can see on NRE both the 3/7 and 7-day are valid via Evesham or Banbury and Worcester or Barnt Green.

According to National Rail the Rovers are valid direct on Cross Country from Cheltenham to Birmingham via Spetchley etc. similarly with Banbury.

The Heart of England 3 in 7 was always valid from Gloucester and Cheltenham to Birmingham via both routes, direct or via Worcester. Oxford to Worcester was also always valid, as was Oxford to Birmingham via Banbury. I used this rover numerous times back in the heyday of my bashing in 2004/2005, incredibly good value ticket.

If my memory serves me correctly was there not a time when this ticket was not valid on the direct Virgin XC services between Cheltenham Spa & Birmingham New Street.

Would appear so. Looking back through old fares manuals the map appeared to exclude via Spetchley until Jan 2010.
