There was a station in London until quite recently where you could stand on a deserted platform at 3 in the morning when the place was closed and the current off. No trains running obviously. Yet at irregular intervals you definitely heard a train rumbling past and even felt the vibrations of it.

Where & How?

My thinking is it might have been Kings Cross Thameslink during the cross London blockade.
Reason being, you can feel the rumblings of trains there from St Pancras which is where Thameslink were operating from (and they start running London to Bedford very early in the morning).

Could it be Kings Cross, Farringdon or Blackfriars, and hearing the Thameslink trains which run 24hours?

No, not KF, FN or BF either. The trains the could be heard were not passenger ones.

Don't know the station, but something to do with the post office railway?

I would presume somewhere around St Pauls as that is where the Tube was closest to the POR IIRC.

Well we have a right answer but a wrong station. The place in question is the ELL platforms at Whitechapel. If you stood there in the dead of night you could hear and feel the PO mail trains rumbling along. I was told that it's not particulary close but the ELL tunnel itself acts as a sounding board that magnifies things in the same way that wind at Elephant and Castle makes it sound like a train is coming from the sidings.
