Help understanding TrainPal "flash sales: up to 80% off"?

So, the reduction in the headline fare (by splitting) might just about be possible, albeit presumably resulting in a somewhat longer journey time, but there wouldn't ever be any 16-25 Railcard discount with walk up First Class Anytime tickets?
Correct - the only First Class tickets that can be discounted by a 16-25 Railcard are Advances.

Still pretty shady…

Potentially problematic marketing practices aside, I'd also be wary of using TrainPal for any purchases at all on the day of travel, their fulfilment of e-tickets is exceedingly slow. I've had to wait upwards of an hour between paying and the e-ticket being generated before now.
