There’s a fascinating online exhibition - with timeline, articles, archive photos, timetables and brochures - that celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Helsinki - St Petersburg railway.

(Were we not in Corona-times, I’d have hoped to make this trip this year)

It’s only available in Finnish and Russian, so you need to open it in a current version of Google Chrome to translate it.

Great article.

I've made the journey a few times on the Sibelia and Repin trains - now replaced by Allegro.. Sibelius used the Finnish blue carriages and Repin used Russian stock. I loved Repin, complete with the carriage attendant, samovar and Russian tea. Haven't had the chance to ride on the Allegro train (Pendolino stock).

Fascinating procedures at the border and equally fascinating seeing the actual border itself.
