Their is a possibility of using the CVR from Leek To Oakamoor sidings site to transport spoil from the construction of a holiday park on the Oakamoor quarry site but this won't be a while, while track laying at the leek end continues and the installation of new track south of Froghall would be needed , given the condition of the Stoke-Leek line it's possible that it would be their home rolling stock will be used

A couple of shots of the pipeline traffic on the Nene Valley Railway, as referenced above. The inbound workings were usually a Cl.60 which then shunted the loaded wagons at Orton Mere before waiting for the train of empty wagons to arrive. The loco off that, usually a Cl.14 (sometimes two) then attached to the loaded wagons to allow the 'Mainline' loco to draw forward to pick up the empties and depart for Fletton Junction and the ECML. Occasionally the 'mainline' loco worked through to Yarwell Jn, the unloading point, with a route conductor.

In theory, could trains still run from Stoke on Trent to the CVR and extention to Cauldon Low?

Not at present. The line from Stoke to Leekbrook is partly stolen, partly jungle and partly dog-walking route, then the line from Ipstones to Caldon Low [1] has been lifted and sold. In essence pretty much the entire line would have to be relaid.

While the track to Ipstones and Stoke may not be up to scratch , the return to Endon and Leek in the not so near future may spark interest for reenstating the rest of the line .

Weds 13th May 2020.

Not all Heritage Railways in lockdown are closed to active rail operations.

Rushcliffe Halt on the GCRN, sees GBRF 66780 run around and back on to its train of emptied DSG containers at British Gypsum, readying for return to Middlesbrough.

Lightened somewhat from its original circa 1800 tonnes load, it is seen descending the curve from the GCRN onto the Midland Mainline connection at Loughborough. The new ‘reunification’ Great Central Railway Bridge can be seen over the MML. It is just a few yards south of Loughborough Midland Station.

and Drax but only when operating on coal
Walking past Gascoigne Wood a few years ago, the security guard at the site entrance said the gypsum from Drax was stored in that very large shed formerly used to hold the coal.

A good example of the benefit of having a main line connection. The Mid Norfolk Railway were able to offer last minute overnight stabling for this 6Z68 working on 3rd August. The text attached to the video explains why.

Yes, I think the Mid Norfolk line have a lot of sidings for main use storage. Gives them a bit of much needed income I presume?

Do they get paid for this or is it goodwill between the companies? It only went just past the first level crossing from what I can see on YouTube so not very far up the line.
