Does anyone have any suggestions for pieces of music (of literally any type) that compliment a sustained 125mph run staring out of the window? It's difficult to explain what I mean by this, and I guess maybe not many other people get it but sometimes certain music puts me in mind of travelling very fast. Obviously music is very personal in taste and everyone will be different, but if anyone thinks they have something that might fit the description (I mean, the obvious start point is a fast tempo, but I think it's more subtle than that) let me know anyway and I will endeavor to give some a go. YouTube and other links welcome.

My suggestions would be electronic instrumentals by Warm Digits, maybe from their 'Interchange' album, which was actually inspired by the T&W Metro (a bit slower, I'll admit!) and for example has a track called 'Tyneside Electrics'. There is also a track on an earlier album called 'Trans-Pennine Express', although I'd say the track of theirs that is most suitable is 'Weapons Destruction' from the 'Keep Warm' album.
Another possibility is classic drum'n'bass, such as the 'Wormhole' album by Ed Rush & Optical, and also classic acid house, 'Theme From S'Express' being one that comes to mind.

Star Guitar by The Chemical Brothers, the video for this is actually the view from a train window, albeit CGI.

Some songs from Kraftwerk's Tour De France album could be quite good too, mainly the Étape tracks.

You could also try Trans Europe Express by them.

I‘ve always thought that disco classic "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer has a rythmic quality that reminds me of travelling by train (together with various percussive whooshes that seem a bit like the sound of passing trains and bridges).

Track 3 of Bonkers 9, CD1 would go beautifully with a 125mph video. As would Styles and Breeze's Let's Fly.

That wouldn't be a bad disc - Heart of Gold by Kelly Lorenna or the Remix of Set you Free (the reason I spent £5 on that comp)

Scooters Never Ending Story, Cambodia or Elnola Gay.

Slightly Slower the Chorus of Step by Step by Mesh. Or Mein Stern by Unheilig

    Ray of Light by Madonna.

Dance in the Dark by Lady Gaga

Wideboy Remix of Remedy by Little Boots.

Why do you Love Me by Garbage.

The Synthpop Version of Canon in D (often Credited to the Petshop Boys)

The Zombie Girl mix of Maze by Apoptygma Berzerk.

    VNV Nation - Defiant

    Sash - La Primavera

Pity it's not the same idea discussed by Radcliffe & Maconie a few weeks ago on doing a Kraftwerk pastiche, something along the lines of

Sitting in Bolton at a roadside cafe
Meet Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay
    Trans Pennine Express
    Trans Pennine Express...

Create your own speed music using Audacity (free) or other music software. In Audacity, import an audio file (e.g. mp3), then use Option / Change Speed or Change Tempo. Many other options available, including play song backwards, etc.

Joe Satriani - Speed Of Light

A lot of his up-tempo music is good at giving impressions of speed. Dangerous to drive to!

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

Reminds me of an old joke from the days before operating systems were delivered over the internet.

When you play Windows installer discs backwards you get satanic music, but when you play them forwards they install Windows on your computer so it's probably best to keep playing them backwards.

Yes, Kelly Lorenna's Heart of Gold off that disc would go well after I heard it again last night. N-Trance's Set You Free would also go well. The one I was thinking of was Breeze and Styles' Sonic. Depending on the speed of travel, UFO' Breaka would also go nicely.

Ich Tu Dir Weh is one Rammstein track I always seem to find myself listening to whenever I happen to be travelling on the ECML, the chorus especially :D.

Cheers, had a listen to a couple of tracks, think I've heard them before - not sure if it was on that Freak Zone thing on BBC6 Music. Very good :)

Quite possibly, because that's where I first heard them!
