Are they even trying to send ploughs through right now? There's days of heavy snow to come up there yet.

I've just seen those photos and videos and it reminds me of that BFI film Snowdrift at Bleath Gill; OK, maybe not to the same extent, but it still looks like a lot of snow!

The Network Rail tweet suggests that they're only now starting to patrol the line, but surely they should have been sending the heavy stuff up and down all night? The snow has been forecast for days.

They will probably do what they did several years ago at both Buxton and the WCML.

Paraphrased quote. "Time 8pm. We have been operating snowploughs over the line and it is now clear. It is our intention to start running trains at 8am tomorrow morning".

YES you guessed it. Having run nothing over the lines by 8am they were blocked again.

Next week is supposed to be very icy & snowy over the UK so hopefully there might be a lot more wintry action!

The minute a plough passes an area, the drifting snow would just cover the line again, it is/was over 2 ft above the rail head in places

No doubt if the ploughs can't cope the snow blowers will get a trip out.
The ploughs can cope.... Just need the failed sleeper out of the way to let them get on with there work

Sleeper has brake problems so could be there for a while. Till the man in a van arrives. Assuming that the roads are open.

VSTP from Kingussie to Inverness and finally made there at 1624. So just a tad around 8 hrs late.
