The print edition of the Standard carried a different version of the story, claiming no premium whatsoever for using the Elizabeth line to/from Heathrow.

The web version seems to have been corrected to clarify that there is a premium, but the effect will be mitigated by capping at the normal levels.

They are now and he’s released a video about it for the Abbey Wood branch.
I'm surprised that worked on canary wharf dlr it is pretty obvious that taking that route means you Haven't used crossrail Farringdon on the other hand it wouldn't be able to tell if you used crossrail or nor

AIUI the difference is with traditional tickets, it's your responsibility to buy the correct ticket. Whereas with oyster/contactless PAYG it is only your responsibility to touch in and out and to remain within the coverage area of the system. If you get charged an incorrect fare because the route the system assumes you took doesn't match the route you actually took then that is not your problem.

The lu machines in December 2018 were selling two tickets to Abbey Wood an southeastern one and an Elizabeth line one which would have been valid on zero routes.

Hi all, apologies if this is a silly question but is there any indication of whether a crossrail ticket from Reading to Paddington, will cost the same as a GWR ticket from Reading to Paddington? We're looking at moving to Reading but GWR train tickets into London are very expensive, however when you go on the train line website the ticket comes down by around £16 when you use the split save feature for TFL trains that stop at Reading.

Contactless fares valid on both TfL Rail and GWR already exist to Reading. Some 'paper' fares are cheaper splitting at Maidenhead which is why TfL trains may appear cheaper.

There really isn't any likelihood of there being cheaper 'paper' fares (ie not Contactless) which are cheaper on TfL Rail (other than the availability of the use of off-peak day returns on their services in the evening peak during which period most such tickets they are barred on most GWR departures from Paddington).

Crossrail/GwR take exactly the same tickets

However Crossrail also accepts veterans oyster cards , freedom passes and tfl staff passes beyond west Drayton towards reading and GwR doesn't.
