My records show 42256 as Scotrail and 42556 as Ely, but as always I could be wrong.
I have 42256 as being at Wabtec for conversion - and 42556 has been reported elsewhere.

41149, 40801, 46012, 42583, 44078, 40106, 40808 & 41187 have all moved from Long Marston to Crewe HS, presumably sold to LSL; 47593 & 47805 picked them up earlier as 5Z47.

I can image the 408's will be for spares. Although I had a rather nice trip in the Pullman Dining on it last year, it's bodywork wasn't in the best of conditions. It subsequently had a Laira bodge to keep it going, but filler doesn't last forever!

Some of the 408xx buffet cars were repainted in GWR green near the end of their service lives. Did they just paint over the rust, or did they have bodywork repairs? From the rake that went to Crewe today, I think 40801, 41149, 41187 and 42583 were green.

Another one which mayhave been scrapped- 41043, a GNER TF which was damaaged in a shunting accident at NL in about 2005, and taken to Doncaster for repair. This was started then abandoned, and it remained there for a number of years, with a large hole in one side (could be seen from the station for a long time) - initially as a spares donor, then it was used as the testbed for the Chiltern plug-door design (one door only). It was removed from Doncaster on a low-loader in 2014 and reportedly went to Brush in Loughborough (don't now why, and not seen any definite confirmation of that). Anyone know whether it still exists, and if not where / when it was scrapped?

My P5 Combined Volume still shows it as 'extant, but awaiting disposal' in Loughborough. I still have the 2019 version, so not sure yet if it's still there in the 2020 one.

Just had a quick look and it appears to be missing from the 2020 edition.

I take it most things today are pulled apart by mechanical grab rather than cut with oxy-acetylene.
From pictures I've seen on Twitter of Mk4 stock being scrapped, Booths appear to do some initial cutting of bodywork with oxy-acetylene. I presume that a mechanical grab is then used. Those carriages also were pretty much stripped back to a bare body shell with all internal fitting and glazing removed. I've never seen any pictures of dismantling at Newport though...

The photos on Carl Watson's blog show a fair bit of stripping at Eastleigh too. In one photo there's a skip next to one of the carriages marked "Wood". I guess they send as much for recycling as they can. Glazing units I daresay are needed as spares for the remaining mark 3s.

They look to have removed the seats before breaking up. Any of them getting reused? The frames and shells at least would be perfectly usable.

The headcode as always for that service is 5Q76 0736 Ely Papworth-Newport Sims.

Bet there's still a lot of stock in Ely given how much there was - even on Google Maps you can see rows and rows of the things!

That would have been 5E23 to Doncaster Works. No idea of coach no's unfortunately.

I can't I.D the coaches either unfortunately, however they were all TS's. So it looks like it will be TS's converted for ScotRail than the talked about TGS's.
