Hi

I'm going from Brum international to Salisbury this August. Is there any way I can get some HST mileage?

Thanks

Assuming a non-AP ticket, going via Basingstoke, you could get off at Oxford and get an FGW HST to Reading, though if you're unlucky with your times may have to wait a while as a lot are 165/6 off-peak. Don't imagine that there would be through ticketing via Bristol allowing an XC HST but maybe...

Do none of XC's HST sets go via Brum and then Bristol on their way to the west country? That should open up the possibility of Brum - Bristol TM, then Bristol - Bath on a FGW set, then the last leg Bath - Salisbury would need to be a Sprinter.

Try

www.125group.org.uk

then see the diagrams section. Hopefully there will 4 diagrams everyday of the week by then.

As you say, New St-Temple Meads on xc, then Temple Meads-Bath on FGW is possible.

Hope this helps.

BHI to SAL via BRI comes up as £26 for an advance single on the NationalRail Website on lots of services. So you should be able to do BHM-BRI on a tram. Doing the desperate leap to Bath is a no-no on an advance ticket of course.
