Quick question (I hope) travelling on the Inverness to Aberdeen line later.

On railcam data feed, open rail describes the power type, obviously when it states Diesel Mechanical Multiple unit - Class 158 (Super Sprinter) it means 158/170 and occasionally both!

Does D Diesel automatically denote something else - ie HST.?

Cheers

It is a timing load, not a description of what will operate the service, although sometimes they will align.

D Diesel on Scotrail services does represent a service which has been *timed* for a HST.

That's great, thank you. I'm currently on a refurb heading for Aberdeen from Elgin, although a fan of the 158 over a 170 any day - an HST on the run is quite nice, smooth and quiet.
