Does anybody know the latest on this?

http://www.kcfm.co.uk/news/local-news/plans-for-redevelopment-of-hulls-paragon-station-approved/

I thought I'd read somewhere it was due to be started this summer but nothing seems to have been done so far.

No, certainly not seen anything happening at my home station...! Looking at that picture, I wonder if they intend to demolish the front of the old booking hall - now the toilets - and fit a new frontage? One thing they certainly have to do is replace the section of roofing over 5/6/7 as it leaks like hell in the rain

Think it was reported in the Hull Daily Mail a few weeks ago, look on Hull City Council website for planning application,s as have seen them there and what the plans are. Work on the travel centre, knocking down the front of the old travel centre, the now toilets / waiting room to be replaced by what looks like glass boxes been built on the front of all the buildings along the station concourse on the station platform side.

Have a look and see the plans.

I was asking about the actual start date. :)

That will be when there ready ( never seen a definite start date ) don,t forget everything will have to be approved by Network Rail so there could be big delays at there end.

So if I did read "summer 2016" then that was just a guesstimate.
If it's going to be ready by 2017 do they need to pull their fingers out?

Talking to the station manager at Hull a couple of weeks ago. There are problems in getting listed building consent due to the plaaners not liking the alterations. The main problem is the customer enquiry desk which the planners do not like the positioning of the desk which will partially block the view of the statue of Larkin. Revised plans have or are being prepared. It is ironic that the view of Larkin is partially blocked now by a HUGE banner around a pillar from the City Council thing around a pillar which advertises the Cultural City 2017. The plans include converting the current buffet into toilets and customer enquiry desk, ticket machines near the barrier, new CIS, demolishing the current building with toilets and waiting rooms and there replacement etc etc.

"Will create 20 permanent new jobs in the city"

Does that mean they're wanting to change most of the concourse into yet another shopping mall?

As someone who lived in Hull for years permemently (now at my parents for a while)
and as someone who hopes to move back to Hull and live soon (Crazy, I know right)
the thing about Paragon in recent years that annoyed me was that were using what I assume to be the original or older, booking concourse (if I am wrong on this correct me as to what this area was originally) as the 'bike hub'.

A waste of a lovely space I thought, as bikes can't appreciate it.

Yes, thats right - you can also hire mobility scooters. Some of the cubicles there can also be rented for meetings I have been told

Apparently the work has now started this week.
As usual, I was able to use the warm waiting room yesterday morning but not sure how the work will affect existing facilities. Would rather not have to wait on a cold platform!
