I haven’t applied yet but I’ve decided it’s what I want to do. I’m just a bit nervous about any possible medical. I have bipolar but Ive only had mild depression ever and manic highs that required antipsychotics. I’m also overweight now (thanks to the medication) with a bmi of 31.5. My heart is on the higher end of normal. I vape and don’t touch drink or drugs. I am also colourblind and wear glasses on a low prescription. Other than that i have no other medical issues. I just wanted to know if I’m doomed or if there is potential for it?

You won't be able to be a Conductor with colourblindness unfortunately, but you could look at other on train roles such as revenue protection or catering. There's plenty of other off train roles on the railway you could do too.

Everything you mentioned there,no problem until you came to colour blindness. Sorry mate but no chance of a safety critical role with that. It's harsh I know but it is what it is. Look for another role where your colour blindness isn't an issue

As others have said, unfortunately not a chance of a safety-critical role when you have colour blindness (so roles such as driver, conductor, dispatcher etc). There are plenty of other roles on the railway you would be able to go for however.

Many have answered above in regards to the colour blindness question, but don’t let this stop you from Perusing a career in the industry.

saftey critical roles maybe out of the question but various roles you could look at so have a look around and keep on bud ;)
