Could it be Skellefteå?
Halo
Could it be Skellefteå?
I went there about 40 years ago on a through couchette from Stockholm. It is the only time I have been hauled by a Swedish diesel loco.
Question to follow shortly.
Combined with the lack of platform in Skellefteå. Not the worst idea though, before Botniabanan opened the night trains did a similar trip to Umeå and back again. It would have added about 2hrs to the end-to-end journey time and was stymied when they discovered the signalling system can’t support a train stopping and reversing at Skellefteå Central (it would have had to continue almost all the way to the port and reverse there).
My last photo was only up for a minute before it was guessed correctly, so let's give this one a go...Sorry I don't appear to have any appropriate photos handy so can I declare open floor please?
Correct!Wellington, New Zealand...?
For this one - the distinctive canopies will probably give it away...
It's in the former Soviet Union, but not in Russia.Stumped. The blue passenger cars and the architecture of the station building make me think it’s Russia. The absence of OHLE is probably a big clue as well, perhaps the far east on one of the secondary east-west routes, but I’ve never travelled that far.
Is it an illusion, or is the station dual gauge? It's in the former Soviet Union, but not in Russia.
It's not dual gauge. Is it an illusion, or is the station dual gauge?
It's not in Moldova.Chisinau, Moldova?
It's not Astana, but two thumbs up for naming the right country.is it Astana-1 (formerly Nur-Sultan-1) in Astana, Kazakhstan?
Winterthur in Switzerland?
I also did the first time but I later discovered the bay platforms at the side which are not covered like the rest of the station.Pfft! Looked at that on google maps and dismissed it!
