Hi everyone

My name is Steve, and I am joining the gang today. I am currently a member of quite a few forums covering many subjects.

I am a very active member of two Motorsport Forums, two Football forums, a general forum and one other railway forum.

However the rail forum I am a member of is very quiet and I have just stumbled across yours here, and it seems much more active which is good.

I have been interested in Railways all my life really as my father has always been keen on railways and steam in particular.

We visited many of the preserved lines as I was growing up and thus have always been interested. I am not deeply knowledgeable about all aspects but I know a fair bit more than your person in the street like we all do here I suspect.

My father is also a model engineer and has built three loco's thus far.

A 3 1/2 inch gauge Rob Roy/Beetle Crusher Caledonian/LMS/BR Dock Tank (standard model design)

A 5 inch gauge Sinclair Designed Single Wheeler built in the 1860s by the Great Eastern Railway

And a 7 1/4 inch gauge Rob Roy/Beetle Crusher Caledonian/LMS/BR Dock Tank. but this time built by his own design to replicate the full size exactly, rather than the standard model design used for his 3.5 inch model.

He now has plans for a 7 1/4 inch 0-6-0 GER Tender engine, which I have not seen yet.

Sadly I have not inherited the skill or temperament to build these sorts of models. Although I do know how to maintain one and keep it in steam and drive the thing. So I am still involved. :D

Anyway that's an overview of my interest in railways.

Look forward to posting on the Forums

Hello all,

I live in France, wish I could live in London, envious of you living in England, love british football and music and M&S and some places and... I only visit the UK every few years but when there I collect as many thinks as I can, keep every food packaging, flyers, whatever I can get my hands on, it makes great souvenirs when I look at them a few years later and help me have a little piece of England at home. So of course I collect London tube maps... That's it.

How do I start a thread? Sorry, I am very new to this?

Go into the sub forum that you'd like to post the thread in, then click on the button above the threads that says 'new thread'.
Remember to put a title in, but other than that it is exactly the same as any other post :)

Hi all.

I'm Ben, an electrical engineer from South Wales.

I'm a big diesel/electric fan as we have many different ones coming in & out of the steelworks where I work.

My all time favourite would have to be a 37 though as it's these that first got me hooked on trains when I was a kid.

Glad to be here

Ben.

Been on here for a while, and never really got to really converse with anyone so here goes:
My name is Charlie, I'm 25 and I live in Redcar North Yorkshire. I volunteer at my local Citizens Advice Bureau and care for my disabled father - life can be so lonely at times.

My love for trains started from a very young age and it has never left. Although not so good on my some aspects (numbers etc). To me it provides a parallel world, a form of escapism, being able to board at a place where you feel worn out and end up somewhere new, full of adventure. Anyway enough of the sob story lol!

On here to looking for mates who have interests in the railway, or even a travel buddy!
