Is Nottingham - Scunthorpe valid via Mansfield and Gainsborough Central?

On Saturdays only of course.

The SVR for NOT-SCU is £31.30, but Trainsplit says split at Shirebrook for 8.20 + 24.70 which is higher.

Can't force TOC sites to give an itinerary using both via points

Thanks

Nottingham-Scunthorpe via Mansfield and Brigg is not a permitted route.

You can go via Brigg - but only if you go via Chesterfield and Sheffield first. And you can go via Mansfield, but only if you continue via Retford and Doncaster! Logical, I know...

However, a Bulwell to Scunthorpe ticket would cost the same and be valid via both Mansfield and Brigg, whilst giving you the flexibility to use the other permitted routes that Nottingham offers you.

The only downside would be that you would need an additional Nottingham-Bulwell ticket if starting from Nottingham.

I think the £31.30 ticket is valid via Mansfield and Gainsborough Lea Road (but not via Gainsborough Central ). There's a mapped route traceable on map NH : Nottingham (Mansfield), Worksop (Retford), Gainsborough Lea Road, Doncaster, Scunthorpe.) . Given that you're forced to use the infrequent Lea Road - Doncaster services which avoid Retford ( to avoid doubling back there), there are very limited practical journey opportunities and it's quite difficult to get a journey planner to show it.
