Hi

Can someone advise as to the cheapest way of doing this journey?

I need to go from London to Derby, then to Dumfries and back (wedding and funeral combo). This is in the future (around 28th of June) and journey wouldn't be in one day but across several days. No staff pass or railcard discounts but wondering if there are any interesting splits?? Thanks

Say you go London - Derby on Day 1, which day would you be going Derby - Scotland?

I made a Glasgow to Kettering journey
Tickets were :
Glasgow - Preston
Preston - Warrington
Warrington - Crewe
Crewe - Derby
Derby - Kettering

I would suggest you try :
London - Derby
Derby - Crewe
Crewe - Warrington
Warrington - Carlisle
Carlisle - Dumfries

On the way back, you probably want to travel directly back to London, so :
Dumfries - Carlisle
Carisle - Warrington
Warrington - Euston

Just a note - the OP may well be able to get a direct (Glasgow-)Carlisle-Euston service, if it's one of the hours where it doesn't start from Lancaster.

Do you have a rough idea as to what time you will be/prefer travelling on each day?
