First of Class 769 Flex unit for delivery to Cardiff Canton was due to be loco hauled from Brush Loughborough today. Apparently the drag loco turned up but the run was cancelled at the last minute.
Expect delivery soon

A couple of years ago there was a 5 Car lash up between Plymouth and Exeter in passenger service
so they're perfectly happy with it then! I thought the Sprinter family multiple working had a maximum number of units...?

crikey!!! :D are mixed Sprinter / Pacer formations also 8 cabs maximum...?
Yes if there is a pacer in the formation then eight cabs max. Northern had an eight car 142 from Newton Heath to Piccadilly mid afternoon. Not sure if it still runs.

They should be working the Crewe to Chester shuttle as well as Bidston and the Conwy Valley
That has apparently changed now. From nwrail.org.uk:
It appears that the Bidston line will now be the sole user of these trains, contrary to early suggestions that they would initially work the Conwy Valley (where it was claimed they would carry a refreshment trolley!) or the Crewe - Chester shuttle which probably needs the higher speed of a Class 150 (75 mph against 60) to keep to the timings. Conwy Valley passengers will, it seems, travel in the same comfort as those travelling from Manchester to Tenby.

I wonder what the source is for that one. It's long been rumoured, but it's all been very quiet of late.
Curiously Vivarail's news article on the Minister's visit on Friday said "North Wales will be the first to benefit from the additions to the fleet along the Wrexham to Bidston, Crewe to Chester and Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog routes." Who's misinformed, I wonder?
