Kim Jong-un arrived in Vladivostok on Wednesday after a brief stop in the Russian border city of Hasan as he prepares for his first summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. As Kim's train rolled into the station two guards were filmed frantically wiping down the door he was due to use. There was a minor hiccup when the train pulled up in the wrong spot, but after a momentary readjustment he stepped out.

Yes. General Kim Jong-un, the Shining Sun, personally authorised the move.

KHASAN is most definitely NOT a city! It's a small isolated village, right on the DPRK border. DM quality journalism as usual..
I was there last summer, an experience that will stay with me for life.

Helmut Uttenthaler of ÖBB summed this unique part of the world up well in his Wien-Pyongyang blog that inspired me to visit http://vienna-pyongyang.blogspot.com/:
"Now we are really at the end of the world, or at least of the world, too which we are used…"

Indeed Khasan is a town with less than 100 houses and about 500 by 1.000 meters. More a town for military!

Its only value in this tale is the gauge-changing facility to enable the N Korean train to run on Russian gauge

Another planet...
Calling every settlement a "city" is probably an American thing, where every one-horse town on the plains is a "city"...

Then again we're no better with the likes of Wells, Ripon and St. Asaph!

Not even that. Although the track in the cross border section is made of 4 rails, thus allowing both normal and russian gauges to be used, in fact only the russian gauge rails see some traffic and all regauging operations take place in Tumangan, on the Korean side of the border.
