My aim is to do some station bagging one afternoon taking in:
Euxton Balshaw Lane, Leyland,
Buckshaw Parkway, Chorley, Adlington,
Entwistle,
Mill Hill, Pleasington, Bamber Bridge, Lostock Hall (Most likely in this order and I'll make my own way between some.)

So if I bought the ticket in the title, would it be valid via Wigan, or via Chorley or via Blackburn?

Wigan, Chorley and Blackburn are all on mapped routes for Lancaster to Bolton in the routing guide, so, unless theres easements barring this, I think its valid through any one of these.

Alighting at all of them?

Best way of doing it:

- xx49 from Preston to Leyland
- xx09 from Leyland to Euxton Balshaw Lane
- Walk from [STN]EBA[/STN] to Buckshaw Parkway, it's about 1.5 miles
- xx33 from [STN]BSV[/STN] to Chorley
- Chorley to Adlington should be doable on the 125 bus
- xx08 from Adlington to Bolton
- xx20 from Bolton to Entwistle
- xx34 from Entwistle to Blackburn
- Walk to Mill Hill, maybe even Pleasington
- xx38 from Mill Hill to Pleasington
- xx42 from Pleasington to Bamber Bridge
- Walk to Lostock Hall
- xx52 from Lostock Hall to Preston

Ah Thanks for this. I always just turn up at the platform with my bike and read the timetable for the next one which reminds me of the time I was very, very lucky at a Sheffield stopper at Strines on a peak service! Hmm maybe I could catch earlier trains if I replace the walking bits with cycling....?
