Good evening everyone!

Can anyone tell me how you call the small droplets of welding that are made in the groove before a full weld is made, to fix the plates in place?

I've been struggling to find the proper verb and name to that technique, which in Portuguese we call literally "Dropping" and "Droplets".

Yes, it is 'Tack Welds'. Comes from the much earlier use of 'tack stitches' in clothing manufacture to temporarily hold two pieces of cloth together before more permanent joining.
