I am intending to make this journey, on 16 June, travelling on the 1438 Leeds to Selby (non stop), 1541 Selby to York (non stop), and any available train York to Leeds, as long as it gets there in good time for the 1716 to Goole. Probably therefore the 1624 (calling Garforth).

I will have a West Yorkshire day rover, but I'm guessing this isn't going to help very much. Is there anything cheaper than singles for each leg (£29.20 by my reckoning)? It seems a lot for a journey which isn't particularly long.

Many thanks in advance for any replies, and also generally to all on this forum who continue to contribute such useful advice and information.

A Leeds - York CDR £13.10 Any Permitted should be suffice. NRE will offer itineraries via Selby.

Which is interesting as last time I checked it wasn't a permitted route.

EDIT - Just checked, and it isn't a mapped permitted route, it certainly isn't the shortest, and isn't taken by direct trains, so no idea what is going on. NRE is also showing £3 Northern advance fares as being available for some journeys that way.

The TPE website says it isn't permitted and won't offer any fares for Leeds to York via Selby.

I agree. Leeds to York via Selby doesn't follow a permitted route:

Code:
Routeing issue(s):
Not a permitted route
OUTWARD JOURNEY Leeds. to York
Mileage 41.34 (Shortest possible 25.27)
Origin Routeing Point – LEEDS GROUP
Terminus is a routeing point
Destination Routeing Point – York
Terminus is a routeing point
Through Mapped Route
Checking G16-SBY-YRK
Off route at York
Not Permitted: Not traceable as mapped route.

There are some Northern APs available between York and Leeds for the return journey, which may be your cheapest option.
