Basically, my youngest sister is desperate to go see her mates in Cornwall...

Whats the best ticket price that can be found??

I can only find tickets in the region of £40 single, and around about £130 - £140 return...

She doesn't have a railcard either

Look for AP fares, which usually become available approx 12 weeks before the date, although sometimes they are released later than that (especially for travel at weekends).

The walk on full adult fare is £136.90 (£90.35 with a Railcard / £68.45 child) valid on any train after 0930, however splitting the ticket will reduce the price and make it valid earlier, for example from Sheffield the fare is £120.90 but Leeds-Sheffield SOR is only £11.20 valid at any time!

I'd recommend AP fares if you can get them but if not have a play with Avantix Traveller.

From what I could make out... Those were the only fares available!

Single AP!

Tell her to get a railcard then, she'll recoup the cost with this trip alone

If you book far enough in Advance, a child Advance ticket can be obtained for £8.50! The most expensive Child Advance fare is £26.00. Anything above that is 1st Class.

MES - ADVANCE CC
00024 - XC ONLY

1 Child @£ 8.50 = £ 8.50
__________
£ 8.50

Standard Class Single

That might be true on XC, but it isn't for travel via London.
(So don't spend £36.25 and expect first class!)
