The old, large boards on the concourse by McDonald's and adjacent to Platform 2 are still hanging in there.

And long may they! I don't have cataracts, but I am finding the white ones harder to read. I'm guessing that's why there's underlining as well, which we didn't have on the orange ones, so separate the text out now that it's harder to read.

Or is it just me? ;)

The A to Z boards between Platforms 12 & 15 have half been changed, so it’s 3 white boards and 3 orange boards at the moment.

Four of them changed, four of them unchanged. The rest will get changed in due course.

The screens opposite platform 3 and half of the screens outside McDonald's have now been changed but not working at the moment...

This morning... The other two have now been replaced but not set up properly yet.

One of the new screens outside McDonald's shows arrivals. Which is nice.

Except, the two departure screens are on the right. They used to be on the left which, in my observation, is the side most people use when walking in. It caught me out yesterday when I was glancing up as I always do to confirm which platform my train was on while walking hurriedly past.

I don't like them, can you tell? Bring back the orange :E

Perhaps a stupid question but what is the benefit of white screens? I’ve never had an issue with the orange ones - but I don’t have any issues with my sight so might be approaching it from the wrong angle

They say its to save energy and easier to read information.

The last 4 A-Z Departures, 9b, Main Concourse and Clocks on platforms are all that's left to do now.

Are they changing over every board, including the recently put in yellow ones on the south concourse? Seems like a waste of money to me if so, and would make it harder to read if quickly passing by in a rush.

South entrance has already been changed. If you're talking about the newer ones in the main concourse above the ticket barriers, they should be getting replaced soon.
They did the same at Edinburgh Waverley where after a number of years when the newer orange ones were installed from Platform 5 and 6 extensions there, they were replaced to white LED.

The same thing also happened at Market Harborough, with EMR. New orange LED displays were replaced not too long after installation to white LED, to keep the consistency in place with other stations which have received the new displays.

I still don’t understand why we’re not getting modern LCD displays like many stations now have. Seems a lot of effort and cost to replace all these displays with something already outdated.

Probably cost, I'm expecting the main screens just to be white LED when they start doing those.

Funny how other Network Rail stations are getting the modern digital screens whilst stations like Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central and Leeds are getting just the LED ones.

Just noticed today more of those clocks on platforms have been ripped out but not replaced yet.

I've noticed a new clock has gone up on 17b which replaced an older one. It's pretty small!

Other than that, progress has been pretty slow. 9b and the four remaining A-Z screens are still original as well as the main concourse screens and some remaining clocks.

Update on LED departure boards: Looks like nothing has been changed for the last three weeks now, even though there's still 9b, the last 4 A-Z screens, the main concourse and LED clock screens left to do.

I wonder if they've paused for the moment, but keeping an eye on it when I'm in the station.

One thing I wish they'd sort out is the vehicle movements. The constant parping from drivers leaning on their horns is driving me nuts - I've complained to one of my councillors, as it starts back on the approach roads as well.

Cars are now picking up and dropping off next to the barriers that block off the old drop-off area - three of them at a time. They they try and turn in the road to get out... leading to more parping. Station managers don't seem to care enough about this to narrow the roadway further and stick up a sign saying "No stopping". Or, use that space for the Police and ambulance vehicles that park up at the station. Harrumph.

I was looking at the departures board at the foot of the stairs on Platform 8c around half an hour ago when it suddenly went blank.

New, improved, more reliable technology than the perfectly good one it replaced.

So I've found out some more information, and the main screens on the concourse above the barriers are relatively new and fall outside of the scope of the project for updating the screens despite being orange.

It's the older life expired ones that are getting replaced. Older orange screens, clocks, etc.

Phew! Leeds is such a dull, grey station that the orange screen provide one of the rare bits of colour. Same with the red and green on the gate line...

It's probably not connected to the station itself, but part of Princes Square is fenced off. Paving slabs have been lifted and two workmen were lifting up the membrane that was underneath them. The paved area and car park are just beyond the the weir; if you could still travel all the way through I think you'd end up in the cellar of the new cycle area off Bishopgate Street.

There's more!

Meant to share yesterday: if you're looking to do some 'rare mileage' at Leeds Station, the lift to platforms 16 & 17 is/was out of action, so the accessible route is/was through the emergency exit into the southern entrance. I was rushing for the semi-fast so didn't stop to take a photo (nor of the sign on the lift, which I'm sure had an odd typo).

Where exactly is the taxi rank now - from the description 'next to wetherspoons' it's out the 'back' on that stupid bit of road that seems to do a figure-8 to block itself... asking for the wife as she will need to get a cab back next week. The few times I've driven there it changes every time and gets worse (sorry if this is already mentioned in this thread)

And do taxis actually queue up there now and wait for people?

Go out the side entrance between spoons and what used to be KFC, and it's to the left. That's (mostly) where Ubers pick up too, although they're a law unto themselves.

Thanks - yes that's what I figured. She wants a cab rather than an uber - the times we've uber'd from the station they've been awful messy cars, black-and-whites have been better in the past.

There is a queue (of sorts); there's a big sign on the wall, wait there and the taxis will circulate round (they stack up on the road over the river). I don't think the sign indicated which way the queue should run though... The taxis themselves use the inner track, the outer track is for pick-up/set-down, and the centre road is for through traffic, but usually clogged up with Private Hires/Ubers/the public doing pick-ups and set-downs :{

People baling out in the centre road - sounds like some dubious bashing moves from the 1980s!

Leeds can't even manage clear signposting on their inner-city motorway, so it's no surprise that the taxi-rank at the station is poor too!
