Leicester to Grantham

Is this ticket valid on the Leicester to Peterborough train ? (xc) its just so I can split my tickets at grantham and doncaster to get to York on thursday but it has to be earlier so I cant go via sheffield.

Routeing Guide says no - only valid via Loughborough and Nottingham by map EM.

Given the amount of twist and turns and huge extra mileage, it's a miracle Peterborough to Leicester is valid on a Peterborough to Leicester ticket ;) But seriously, while not officially valid I doubt many guards would bat an eyelid at it, especially not with a PRIV!

Slightly off topic but living in Warwickshire returns to Grantham are valid via Peterborough from Birmingham & Nuneaton but not from Coventry - no wonder guards can not remember which tickets are valid.
