Good morning,
I had a conversation on Monday with Customer Services for West Midlands Railway, after the 12:56 Five Ways - Hereford train was cancelled.
My question was: because of the cancellation, is it permissible for me to travel via Shrewsbury (the 'via Craven Arms' option).
He kept saying that because the ticket had no route restrictions, I was free to travel that way. However, I know that both National Rail Enquiries and Trainline say that it isn't a route you can take with that ticket.
Does anyone have any advice about this? If indeed the ticket is always valid on that route, I'd prefer to take advantage of it. I've checked the fare check rule and it seems to comply. But I also don't want to risk a penalty.
I make this journey on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. As it's a long journey I don't want to make it longer.
Thanks in advance,
David
