BBC News said:
At least two people were killed and 20 injured in western Germany when a passenger train hit a tractor-trailer on a level crossing, police say.
The accident happened near the town of Ibbenbueren when the train, from Osnabrueck, struck the vehicle which was carrying manure, officials added.
Three of those injured were said to be in a serious condition.
Initial reports said the vehicle got stuck while trying to cross the railway line, police said.

Looks like a significant amount of damage was done to the unit, does anyone know much about their construction?

The train came in contact with a trailer with that stuff you put on the land; to improve the ground for growing things. The trailer must be loaded, because the trailer could to pass the crossing and sperated from the pulling power. As it was a curve the driver of the train had no time to react.

Manure spreader trailer. They are heavy if full of manure. It will be like hitting a brick wall. They are saying they initially believe it got stuck on the crossing.
